During his time in office, he re-invigorated The President's Council on Physical Fitness, encouraging Americans to take physical fitness seriously. Kennedy himself took up golf as a young man, as a freshman representing Harvard against Yale. He is considered one of the most accomplished of the presidential golfers having been a regular player at Hyannis Golf Club in Massachusetts, and Palm Beach Golf Club in Florida with his father, brother and friends. As senator and later president he played closer to Washington D.C. at clubs in Maryland.
