  • Spring in Washington celebrates the cherry trees and their beautiful pink and white flowers that bloom in late March. Every year, Cherry Blossom Festival performers put on a colorful show right in front of the National Archives steps. The majority of the trees are located near the Tidal Basin, where they are most popularly viewed. The Japanese cherry trees were a gift from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo City to the city of Washington on March 27, 1912. The National Archives holds many records related to the United States' relationship with Japan.

Cherry Blossom "Salmon" Summer Socks

I am glad the socks are made in America. I gave them as a gift to my mother who also likes the summer socks (not for winter wear) but does not agree with the color description "salmon" as correct. When I first gave her the socks, she thought it was just "falling leaves". I feel the grey helps provide contrast to the salmon color of the Cherry Blossom, possibly mimicking a winter background or the stone of government buildings and the ambiance they provide. I am not entirely sure what my mother would consider the "right" design, but she still likes the socks. Thank you for reading.

We appreciate your feedback, Trey. Thank you for shopping with us.
